Expected mortgage rates 2020

Mortgage rates should stay below 4%, but don’t expect them to decrease much. The vast majority of housing economists project that mortgage rates will remain below 4% in 2020. The average fixed rate probably will be 3.6% in 2020, which would be the lowest annual average ever recorded in Freddie Mac records going back to 1973. It compares with 3.9% in 2019 and 4.5% in (Consider that the 30-year fixed-rate began 2019 at around 4.51%.) Meanwhile, the National Association of Realtors forecasts a 3.6% average rate for 2020 in its latest economic outlook report.
