Note for Futures Contracts: Barchart's charting application commonly uses the * symbol on futures contracts as a shortcut to specify the month. Thirty cent ($0.30) per bushel ($1,500/contract) above or below the previous day's settlement price. No limit in the spot month (limits are lifted beginning on First Position Day). ZC: Open Outcry Product Symbol (Trading Floor) C: Contract Size: Each futures contract shall be for 5,000 bushels of No. 2 yellow corn at par, No. 1 yellow corn at 1.5 cents per bushel over contract price, or No. 3 yellow corn at 1.5 cents per bushel under contract price. To add, corn is traded in dollars and cents per bushel and the minimum move (tick) is a quarter cent. A tick in corn is $12.50, with four ticks equaling one cent ($50). From there you can figure out how much a move of so many cents equals. A corn futures contract is 5,000 bushels. These same numbers apply to wheat, soybeans, and I believe oats too. Specifications of corn futures contracts Corn futures are traded through the Chicago Board Of Trade (CBOT), which is a futures and options exchange. There are many different types of futures contracts. The underlying futures contract for corn is December, and the underlying futures contract for soybeans is November. With short-dated, there are fewer days of coverage. As an example, a July short-dated option will expire in late June, even though the underlying futures contract is December.
